What the direct flight to the Red Sea means for sales

From December 2026 the airline beOnd has announced direct flights from Munich and Zurich to Red Sea International Airport. One objection to booking becomes smaller.

Getting there has been the first objection to the Red Sea. Connections, a long journey, little certainty. With a direct flight from Munich and Zurich, that objection loses weight for many clients.

What has been announced

The airline beOnd flies to Red Sea International Airport (RSI) from December 2026. According to its schedule there are two flights a week from Munich, the first on 17 December, and three flights a week from Zurich, the first on 15 December. Booking systems recently showed only two flights a week for Zurich. Sources: beOnd press release and schedule as reported by AeroRoutes, July 2026. Please confirm dates, times and availability with the airline before every client conversation.

What happens after landing

Depending on the hotel, Shura Island is 25 to 30 minutes from RSI by electric car. Guests of the island resorts St. Regis, Nujuma and Shebara continue from the Turtle Bay Hotel on the mainland, which serves as arrival lounge and boat harbour. An adviser who can describe this journey takes a worry away from the guest.

What you can tell your clients now

A direct flight saves the connection and gives back half a holiday day. Couples with little time and families find the decision easier. The airport is close to the hotels, so shorter stays are realistic as well, such as one extended week.

Better access brings more enquiries. Ask first who is travelling, with whom and for what occasion, and name the fitting hotel afterwards.

A conversation you might have

A couple in their mid-fifties asks for something special in winter. You say: direct flight from Munich, a little over half an hour by electric car after landing, then peace and quiet. Then you ask whether they would like a beach, or space and silence. A beach leads to the hotels on Shura Island, space and silence to the island villas or the Desert Resorts.

What to keep in mind

A direct flight does not answer every question. Guests still ask about entry requirements, visas, safety and local rules. The guidance of the German Federal Foreign Office and the regulations of the Kingdom apply, and you should point your clients to them. The best time to travel is the winter months and the shoulder seasons, and midsummer is very hot. Tell your clients which hotels have not yet opened.
