Desert Rock, Six Senses Southern Dunes and Turtle Bay

Region

The desert resorts lie inland

Inland, the land opens up and grows quiet. Dunes and wadis meet the Hejaz mountains, and Six Senses Southern Dunes lies on a route once travelled by incense traders. Desert Rock stands in a granite massif 20 minutes from the airport, with ten suites built right into the rock.

At night the sky above Desert Rock is dark enough for the DarkSky Approved seal. The desert is for anyone who looks for space and calm, and it combines well with a few days by the sea.

Where your island journey begins

At the Turtle Bay Hotel on the coast you arrive, take a breath and board the boat to St. Regis, Nujuma or Shebara. In 2023 the small hotel became the first in Saudi Arabia to hold the Green Key eco-label. There is no spa, but a massage after the flight is possible.

In the footsteps of the incense traders

Between dunes, wadis and the peaks of the Hejaz, Six Senses Southern Dunes, The Red Sea lies on a route once travelled by incense, silk and precious fabrics. Roofs follow the lines of the dunes, and Sadu patterns and warm wood speak of Bedouin craft. In the Artisan Pods you meet local makers, in the Earth Lab the herbs of the desert and in the Cooking School their flavours.

Between rock walls and starry skies

In a granite massif 20 minutes from the airport, you stay in the wadi, on the rock face or in a Mountain Cave Suite cut into the stone. By day you ride an e-quad between acacias, climb the via ferrata or zipline across the cliffs, just right for active couples and families with teenagers. In the evening you walk up to the Observatory and let the day end under the stars.
